As expected, quarterback Marcus Mariota is inactive today for the Tennessee Titans.
Mariota, who did not play in the second half last week in Houston with an injured left hamstring, will give way to backup Mass Cassel as the starter today against the Miami Dolphins.
All signs throughout the week pointed to Cassel getting the start. Mariota was extremely limited in practice all week, not doing anything past individual work, as the Titans are playing it extremely cautious with their starting quarterback.
Cassel got the first-team reps all week and practice and will be backed up by Brandon Weeden, who was signed by the Titans on Tuesday.
Today’s game will be the first that Mariota has missed this season, but is the sixth game overall he has missed in his three seasons as the Titans starting quarterback.
Other inactives today for the Titans include Kalan Reed, Darius Jennings, Corey Davis, Johnathan Cyprien, Corey Levin and Kevin Dodd.
