Cornerback Jason McCourty, hoping to make it back from a shoulder and chest injury that kept him out of action last week, returned to practice for a first time since suffering the injury on Thursday.
McCourty was limited, but Coach Mike Mularkey indicated that the Titans hope to increase his activities on Friday and that the veteran cornerback would probably be a game-time decision when Tennessee takes on the Houston Texans on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
McCourty said Wednesday that he was hoping to practice Thursday with a goal of perhaps being able to play Sunday with increased reps through the week.
“I’m getting a lot better. I’m just taking it day-by-day,” McCourty said Wednesday. “That’s the plan to be able to get out there and practice at some point to be able to play in the game.”
Coach Mike Mularkey said McCourty will continue to be monitored.
“We’ll see if he can do a little bit more tomorrow, and he’ll probably be a game-time decision,” Mularkey said.
In addition to McCourty, cornerback D’Joun Smith was out of Thursday’s practice due to a virus.
Cornerback LeShaun Sims, who was in the concussion protocol coming off Saturday’s game, practiced fully for the second straight day. Tight end Jace Amaro (quad) was a full participant and linebacker Sean Spence was full go after being out Wednesday due to illness.
