The Tennessee Titans will be a little short-handed in the secondary today against the Jacksonville Jaguars with three defensive backs declared inactive.
The Titans ruled out veteran Jason McCourty on Friday, and on Saturday deactivated newly promoted cornerback D’Joun Smith and safety Curtis Riley, who also has experience at cornerback.
That leaves Tennessee with veterans Brice McCain and Valentino Blake at cornerback, along with rookies LeShaun Sims and Kalan Reed. Sims has played well the past couple of weeks with a pass breakup against Denver and an end zone interception against Kansas City. Reed, promoted to the active roster two games ago, has played mostly on special teams.
Other inactives for today include tight end Jace Amaro, receiver Tre McBride, linebacker David Bass and guard Sebastian Tretola.
Bass is the only mild surprise among that group, as the Titans had listed inside linebacker Sean Spence as questionable with an ankle injury in their final report Friday. Spence is active after missing last week’s game.
Inactives for the Jaguars include quarterback Brandon Allen, receiver Arrelious Benn, defensive tackle Jordan Hil, receiver Allen Hurns, linebacker Sean Porter, running back Denard Robinson and Neal Sterling.
