The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with third-round pick Jonnu Smith on Tuesday, making him the fifth of the club’s nine draft choices to sign a contract.
Smith, a tight end from Florida International, had 178 receptions for 2,001 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in his college career with the Panthers.
With the Titans, his initial role could be to compete as the second tight end in more of a blocking role to complement Delanie Walker, as Tennessee lost Anthony Fasano as a free agent to the Miami Dolphins.
Front office moves
The Titans have promoted scout Jon Salge to director of college scouting, replacing Blake Beddingfield, who left the club at the conclusion of the 2017 draft.
Salge has been with the organization or 11 years and was most recently an area scout for the team.
In addition, Tennessee promoted Brandon Taylor, who has been with the team for 10 years, to national scout. The Titans also have added Tom Roth and Mike Boni as area scouts.
