In an interesting move, the Tennessee Titans claimed offensive lineman Josh Kline off waivers from the New England Patriots on Thursday.
In a corresponding move, the Titans waived cornerback Cody Riggs after Wednesday’s practice. If Riggs goes unclaimed, there is the likelihood that he could rejoin the team’s practice squad.
Kline has the type of experience the Titans would want in a guard, having made 18 starts in three seasons for the Patriots with 10 starts at left guard and eight more at right guard.
The move gives the Titans nine offensive linemen on the active roster – their five starters, plus backups Dennis Kelly, Sebastian Tretola and Brian Schwenke.
Kline spent three seasons with the Patriots after being an undrafted rookie in 2013.
Riggs, who made the Titans as an undrafted rookie last season and again this year, was considered one of the team’s top special teams players.
