The Tennessee Titans continue to look for depth and pass rush help, hosting former Middle Tennessee State standout Erik Walden as a free agent on Monday.
A league source confirmed Walden’s visit with the Titans to TitanInsider.com.
Walden had a career-high 11 sacks last season for the Indianapolis Colts. Walden was also credited with three forced fumbles in 2016.
The Titans have front-line starters at outside linebacker in Brian Orakpo (10.5 sacks) and Derrick Morgan (nine sacks), but rookie second-round pick Kevin Dodd’s season was ruined by a foot injury, and the Titans seem poised to let backup outside linebacker David Bass walk away in free agency.
Walden is most famous to Titans fans for head-butting tight end Delanie Walker in a game. Walker did not have a helmet on at the time. Asked last year before one of the Titans’ games against the Colts about the matter, Walker seemed to have moved on from the incident and held no ill will.
Walden has bounced around the NFL since joining the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008. He has also played for the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers before landing with the Colts in 2013.
