Free agent cornerback Valentino Blake has agreed to a deal with the New York Giants, the club announced Monday night.
Blake played the 2016 season with the Tennessee Titans after coming over on a one-year deal from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He began the year as Antwan Blake, but then changed to go by Valentino Blake.
Blake had 38 tackles, including 33 solo stops for the Titans. He also had five passes defensed and made four special teams tackles for Tennessee.
Blake played a larger role for the Titans toward the end of the season after Perrish Cox was released, stepping in as the team’s third cornerback, playing on the outside when Brice McCain moved to the slot.
Blake also had a couple of memorable moments with the Titans that weren’t necessarily in a positive way. One of those came when he pointed the wrong way on a fumble recovery against Green Bay. The other came at Indianapolis when he picked up a ball that was being downed at the 2-yard line on a punt return, making it live near the Titans’ goal line.
