The Tennessee Titans activated defensive lineman Jurrell Casey from the physically unable to perform list before Saturday’s practice.
Casey, a Pro Bowl selection each of the past four seasons, had been on the PUP list since the start of camp rehabbing a knee injury that kept him out of the Titans’ season finale last year against Indianapolis.
“I tried to go out there and not even think about it. It went pretty smooth, but I felt like my legs were a little heavy, but outside of that, getting back out there and moving around, it was great,” Casey said. “I don’t think I felt rusty. I felt smooth and I was able to go out there and not even think about it. I just let the body do itself and if I felt something, I knew to ease back a little bit.”
The Titans also made a flurry of other moves on Saturday, including placing rookie fifth-round pick D’Andre Walker on injured reserve and waiving injured tackle Cody Conway and linebacker Riley Bullough.
To replace them, the Titans signed running back Akeem Hunt, defensive end Eric Cotton, wide receiver DeAngelo Yancey and linebacker Ukeme Eligwe.
With Casey back, the Titans have one of their top players back in the fold. Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown remain out with injuries. Also, David Fluellen, Nate Davis and Frank Herron were out of practice.
Another line shuffle
The Titans used another player at right guard on Saturday, this time inserting Jamil Douglas with the first unit. Douglas had run some first team drills earlier in camp when Rodger Saffold was out. The other starters were Dennis Kelly and Jack Conklin at tackles, Ben Jones at center and Saffold at left guard.
