Report: Ryan Tannehill to start Sunday as Titans QB

In a reported move that is not really surprising, the Tennessee Titans will hand the quarterback reins over to veteran Ryan Tannehill this Sunday when they host the Los Angeles Chargers.
The decision to start Tannehill over Marcus Mariota was reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Mariota struggled in a 16-0 loss a Denver Sunday and was yanked in the third quarter after a 7 of 18 showing for 63 yards with two interceptions.
Tannehill relieved Mariota and hit on 13 of 16 throws for 144 yards and one interception as well.
Barring injury, or Tannehill being completely ineffective, Mariota’s benching likely ends another quest for a franchise quarterback for the Titans, who have now failed with three first-round quarterbacks in a row. Tennessee already had first-rounders Vince Young (2006) and Jake Locker (2011) not pan out long-term, and now it looks as if Mariota, the second overall choice in 2015, will join them at the end of the season as former Titans quarterbacks who did not fulfill expectations.
The Titans are trying to jumpstart an offense that was shut out last week by the Broncos and has scored just seven points in two other losses this season. Tennessee’s defense has been outstanding, not allowing more than 20 points in any game this season, but because of their offensive woes, the Titans are just 2-4 and in last place in the AFC South.
