Titans place Delanie Walker on IR, add second kicker

Delanie Walker’s season with the Tennessee Titans is over, and the next question in that regard may be whether or not his career with them could end as well.
The Titans made the move Wednesday before practice to put the veteran tight end on injured reserve after he re-injured his surgically repaired ankle, and it did not respond well enough for him to return to the lineup.
Walker, 35, who signed a contract extension in training camp last year, has one year remaining on that with a $5.4 million base salary due, as well as a $1.25 million roster bonus and a $50,000 workout bonus. Speculation is, however, that the Titans could part ways with perhaps the best free agent signing in franchise history.
Walker, who was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, arrived as a free agent with the Titans in 2013 and quickly became a focal point of the offense. In seven seasons with the Titans (including just eight games the past two seasons), Walker totaled 381 receptions for 4,423 yards and scored 28 touchdowns.
This season, in seven games, Walker had 21 catches for 215 yards before re-injuring his ankle.
Walker told TitanInsider last week that he was hopeful of coming back for 2020 with the Titans since he still had another year on his contract.
The Titans have gotten decent production from the likes of Jonnu Smith, Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruett this season while Walker has been out.
To replace Walker on the roster, the Titans made an unusual move. They signed kicker Ryan Santoso, formerly of the University of Minnesota, who had been in the Detroit Lions camp. Santoso joins Ryan Succop on the 53-man roster and presumably will handle kickoffs. Succop has not produced many touchbacks since he returned from injured reserve in week nine due to a knee injury.
Santoso is the fourth kicker to be employed by the Titans this season, as they used Cairo Santos, who was waived following missing four field goals against Buffalo in October. They also used Cody Parkey for a few games until Succop was eligible to come off IR.
