Titans re-sign center Hroniss Grasu; waive Dalyn Dawkins

The Tennessee Titans continue to tweak the back end of the roster, and on Tuesday, brought back center Hroniss Grasu to the 53-man roster.
Grasu, who was with the Titans in the off-season and training camp, was released in final cuts by Tennessee. To make room on the active roster, the Titans waived running back Dalyn Dawkins, who made the roster by rushing for 117 yards and catching two touchdown passes in the Titans preseason finale against Chicago.
Grasu, who was a college teammate of quarterback Marcus Mariota at the University of Oregon, rejoins the Titans and will serve as a backup to center Ben Jones and also can fill in at guard.
Kevin Pamphile, who won the starting right guard position out of training camp, suffered a minor knee injury in practice last week and was inactive for Sunday’s opening win against Cleveland. Jamil Douglas started in his place and earned praise from head coach Mike Vrabel for his performance against the Browns.
Vrabel said the Titans would have to wait and see on Pamphile’s status for the home opener against the Colts on Sunday. The addition of Grasu would seem to be insurance in case Pamphile cannot go. Rookie guard Nate Davis, who was the favorite to win the right guard job in training camp, missed several weeks with an undisclosed injury, and has been behind in his preparation, according to Vrabel.
