Titans re-sign cornerback Tye Smith

The Tennessee Titans have re-signed cornerback Tye Smith to a one-year contract to provide some depth at the position.
Smith played in 12 games during the 2019 season, recording 24 tackles and two forced fumbles in helping the Titans to reach the AFC Championship Game.
Smith returned a blocked field goal 63 yards for a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts and later had a forced fumble that helped seal the Titans’ road victory on their way to the postseason.
The former Towson State player has played in 29 games since signing with the Titans in 2017. He missed the entire 2018 season due to an injury but wound up playing a key role in the Titans secondary last season after Malcolm Butler was lost due to a broken arm, and Adoree’ Jackson missed time with a leg injury.
With Logan Ryan still a free agent, the Titans now have Jackson, Butler as starters with Smith, Kenneth Durden, Kareem Orr and Josh Kalu available at cornerback.
Smith was originally a fifth-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. He also spent time with the Washington Redskins practice squad.
