With the flap about the national anthem and players sitting that has moved back into the spotlight again after President Donald Trump’s remarks earlier this week, the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks will be in the locker room during the playing of the “Star Spangled Banner.”
The teams had decided to remain in their locker rooms, a gesture also done by the Pittsburgh Steelers in today’s game vs. Kansas City.
About 15 minutes before kickoff, the Titans issued a statement on the matter.
“As a team, we wanted to be unified in our actions today. The players jointly decided this was the best course of action. Our commitment to the military and our community is resolute and the absence of our team for the national anthem shouldn’t be misconstrued as unpatriotic.”
Anthem singer Megan Lindsey was on the field around 2:50 p.m. and performed at 3:01 p.m.
