Wesley Woodyard ready to return Sunday

Linebacker Wesley Woodyard is a go for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday when they face the Los Angeles Chargers at Wembley Stadium in London.

Woodyard who has missed the past two games due to a shoulder injury, was limited in Wednesday’s practice, but was a full go on Thursday, and then practiced again fully on Friday when the Titans arrived in London for their workout there.

Woodyard’s absence has been a serious matter for a Titans defense that has struggled to replace the veteran inside linebacker.

Notably, the Buffalo Bills were able to gash the Titans with the run late in that game two weeks ago, in order to go down and kick the winning field goal as time expired.

Then last week, the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Joe Flacco took apart the Tennessee defense, by hitting on 12 of 17 third-down conversions.

The Titans are hopeful that Woodyard’s return to the lineup will not only help stabilize the defense that seemed to get out of position and out of its gaps too often during the veteran captain’s absence, but that Woodyard’s energy and passion will rub off on the unit as well.

“That’s just part of my game, bringing that energy and bringing that excitement and making plays,” Woodyard said Friday from London.

In addition to Woodyard, the Titans got guard Quinton Spain back on the practice field Friday. Spain injured his shoulder late in the loss to the Ravens and was said to be “day to day” earlier in the week by Coach Mike Vrabel. Spain did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.

Also, safety Kenny Vaccaro continues to practice this week, as he has missed the previous two games with a dislocated elbow. He has been limited each day in his return.

Bennie Logan looks on track to play after practicing all week this week with an elbow injury that kept him out last week.

Also, linebackers Will Compton (hamstring) and Derrick Morgan (shoulder) did not practice on Friday.
